Randy Broadwater started his welding career with a gold medal, winning the State and National VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) welding competitions that provided him with scholarships that helped him continue his formal education. Over a 10-year period at Miller, Randy has held positions as a welding engineer, product manager, market manager and account manager. In 1998, Randy left Miller for a manufacturing engineering opportunity at Case New Holland. There he worked with multifunctional teams representing design engineering, quality, production and tooling to successfully bring into production new robotically welded construction equipment platforms. He was then recruited to Harley Davidson Motor Company in Kansas City as a manufacturing welding engineer, leading a team on several new automated motorcycle development projects. He provided shop floor support for robotic fuel and oil tank welding and was champion for implementing company wide welding standards. In October of 2002, Randy returned to Miller as AMS and Automation product manager. Randy began his career in manufacturing and welding more 25 years ago, working evenings and summers in small machine and welding shops. He graduated from Utah Technical College in 1983 with an Associates degree in Welding Technology and Utah State University in 1987 with a B.S. in Industrial Welding Engineering Technology. In 1987 he became an AWS (CWI) Certified Welding Inspector and has been member of AWS since 1982. After graduation, he accepted a position at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division to begin his career as a welding engineer before joining Miller.
