Miller proudly introduces Alpine High School, Alpine, Texas.
At Alpine High School, 20 students are enrolled in a welding program that is growing rapidly, to say the least. James Burnett, instructor at Alpine, estimates that his class enrollment has increased 70 percent this year due to some major changes in the program. For the first time, students had the opportunity to become certified welders. Eight students qualified in all four welding positions and received certification cards in May. To prepare for certification, students took on several projects, such as porch rails, dune buggies and barbeque pits. Burnett believes it's all about practice.
"You can never practice enough in the welding booth," says Burnett "Keep burning rods and wire and you will perfect your skills.
In the welding lab, students practice on a variety of welding equipment, including XMT® 350 multiprocess inverters and Dimension™ 302 multiprocess welding machines. View multiprocess classroom packages.
