Course Description: These seminars are designed to provide welding instructors with the opportunity to learn about the latest equipment and process developments in the welding field. Each seminar consists of a series of classroom presentations. Each presentation is followed by lab activities designed to reinforce the presentation. Throughout the seminars, the participants will also be able to review the latest training materials available from the ITW Welding Products Group. These materials include books, training aids, videos, computer and Internet-based programs. Target Audience: This seminar is designed for individuals involved with welding instruction in the public, private and industrial sectors. Topics Covered: Due to the variety of programs offered, please call for a description of the course offered in the location that you wish to attend. . Electrical fundamentals for welding . Power source design and application . Developments in Stick (SMAW) . Developments in TIG (GTAW) . Developments in MIG (GMAW) . Developments in Plasma Arc Cutting and Gouging (PAC) . SkillsUSA (www.skillsusa.org) is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, technical and health occupations education. It sponsors an annual championship to recognize the achievements of vocational students and to encourage them to strive for excellence and pride in their chosen occupations. Contestants in the welding competition move through workstations that test various aspects of welding, including the oxy-fuel, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and SMAW processes, as well as identifying weld discontinuities and non-destructive testing. By supporting SkillsUSA with equipment, technical support, scholarships, training, and sponsorships, Miller encourages more young people to explore a rewarding career in welding.
