The Pulsed MIG process with metal-cored wires has helped reduce spatter, improve weld quality and make it easier to weld out of position. 

Using the same multiprocess welding system, operators simply hit a button to switch processes from RMD on the root pass to metal-cored wires on the fill and cap passes. 

RMD, a precisely controlled short-circuit metal transfer process, helped increase travel speeds, bridge gaps and eliminate lack of fusion or lack of penetration, and reduced spatter when matched with metal-cored wires.  

The RMD and Pulsed MIG processes with metal-cored wire have helped get welders up to speed faster in pipe welding applications, helping to address training needs and a shortage of qualified welders. 

An automated system powered by the Auto-Axcess™ 450 from Miller effortlessly switches between RMD on root passes to Pulsed MIG in fill and cap passes.
