- A third of the way through the project, the Spectrum 1000 has more than paid for itself. Based on time studies, the total cutting time for the project will be 19 hours for the Spectrum 1000 vs. 43 hours for oxy-fuel—a savings of 55 percent, especially important since the maintenance crew is working on overtime.
- Safety hazards and associated costs eliminated. Since the work is being done in the highest casino in the country, oxy-fuel presented several hazards and would have required daily removal of gas tanks, which could have presented significant fire hazards.
- Training time was minimized. The people on the maintenance crew had different skill levels and backgrounds. Oxy-fuel would have required training both in safety and operation. With the Spectrum 1000, all of them could use the cutter and be immediately productive.
