Miller Announces a New Partnership and Unveils New Products at FABTECH 2010

It was all about point-of-use controls and automation at FABTECH this year. FABTECH 2010 was held in Atlanta, November 2 – 4, 2010, at the Georgia World Congress Center, where Miller introduced many new products, as well as made a major announcement regarding the welding automation market.

Miller started the show by announcing its new strategic partnership with Panasonic Factory Solutions of America. This partnership between Miller and Panasonic has created a new business unit for Miller, Miller Welding Automation. Several new products were featured at FABTECH. Miller designed its booth to match products to specific industries a nd applications, which gave attendees a real-world view of how Miller provides solution-based systems. Miller was also active outside of its booth, taking part in a number of important educational events.
Nick Peterson, welding engineer for Miller, serves on the committee that presented the SkillsUSA weld-off competition during FABTECH. Six finalists traveled to Atlanta to compete for three spots in the next phase of the competition, which will be held in Kansas City in June 2011. The champion of that event will move on to represent the U.S. at the World Skills competition in London. AWS provides the American winner with a $40,000 scholarship funded by Miller to be used for continuing education. The three competitors advancing to Kansas City are Alex Pazkowski and Bradley Clink of Saline, Michigan, and Zack Brown of Leakesville, Mississippi.

Brent Williams, marketing manager and welding engineer for Miller, gave a presentation on TIG welding inverter technology used in aircraft engine and component repair as part of the AWS Weld Repair Conference held during the week.
